Service center information

COVID-19 response

Drop-off or mail-in transactions whenever possible. If you need in-person help:

Schedule an appointment 

Limited walk-in services available based on staffing and physical spacing guidelines at our locations listed on this page.

  • If you do not have an appointment, you may be placed on a wait list and asked to wait outside the Service Center lobby until space is available.
  • Your phone number will be requested as you will be notified of your place in line by text.
  • Services are not guaranteed for walk-in and wait list visitors.

Requirements when visiting county buildings

  • Visitors to most county buildings are not required to wear a mask.
  • Masks are recommended for those who are unvaccinated or at high-risk for COVID-19.
  • Visitors who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should not enter county buildings, when possible. If these visitors must enter, they should wear a mask.

  • You cannot make an appointment more than four weeks in advance, due to staffing shortages.
  • One service per appointment. If two services are needed, schedule two appointments, etc.
  • If your preferred location is not available, try another.
  • Schedule appointment.

Drop off and pick up information

  • Drop-off and pick-up hours vary by location.
  • See a specific location for hours, drop-off and pick-up options.
  • Drop-off is only to deliver your application or request.
  • Pick-up of completed work must be done from the same location your application was mailed to or dropped off at.

Brookdale

The drop-box is outside of the building next to the south entrance, available 24 hours a day.

Items will be processed in 3–5 business days.

Pick up

We will contact you when your work is ready. You will receive an access code with instructions for getting your completed items from a locker, located outside the south entrance next to the drop-off box; lockers are available 24 hours a day.

Government Center

The drop-box is inside on street level of the light rail side.

Hours are Monday – Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Most items will be processed in 5–7 business days. Some special licenses can take 2–3 weeks to process.

Pick up

We will contact you when your work is ready. You will receive an access code with instructions for getting your completed items from a locker, located inside and on the street level, light rail side.

Maple Grove

The drop-box is in the lobby. Lobby hours are:

  • Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, closed

Items will be processed in 3–5 business days.

Pick up

We will contact you when your work is ready. Drive-thru and pick up your items without getting out of your vehicle.

The drive-thru is on the north end of the building.

Hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Midtown Exchange

The location is open 24 hours a day.

Pick up

Ridgedale

Payment options

We accept the following types of payment for services:

  • Cash (in-person transactions only)
  • Check (payable to Hennepin County Treasurer)
  • Money order (payable to Hennepin County Treasurer)
  • Credit cards (in person and over the phone): Visa, Mastercard and Discover Card are accepted; a 2.49% convenience fee will be charged.

When applicable, additional payment options for online and/or fax transactions are described with each specific service.
