County services suspended

Effective March 17 to April 10 at 5 p.m.

Hennepin County is closing all public-facing services at all 41 libraries, human service centers, and licensing service centers.

Staff will explore solutions for serving residents without person-to-person contact.

Gambling permit

An organization may conduct lawful gambling if it has a premises permit and license to conduct lawful gambling. The initial premises permit must receive approval by either the city council or the county board in which the organization’s premises will be located. The permit and license are then reviewed, approved and issued by the Minnesota Gambling Control Board.

Hennepin County approves gambling permits for unorganized areas of the county such as Fort Snelling.

How to apply

Determine which license or permit you need from the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. Submit your completed license or permit application in person to the Government Center Service Center.


There is no fee due to Hennepin County.

Next steps

After the County Board has approved the initial permit, the signed resolution will be returned to you.

Mail the signed resolution, any other required attachments and a check for $150.00 made payable to the State of Minnesota to:
