Transient merchant license

Out-of-state businesses having a sale in Hennepin County must have this license.

The license is good for only the location on the application.

Fee

$150

Application process 

  1. Complete both forms:
    • Application (PDF, 1MB)
    • Affidavit of goods (PDF, 1MB)
  2. Print but don't sign the forms.
  3. Gather the following:
    • An itemized list of sale merchandise
    • The name and address of auctioneer(s)
    • A $1,000 executed bond to Hennepin County
    • Proof of partnership (if applicable)
    • A copy of your Minnesota Department of Revenue sellers permit or your state sales tax number
  4. Get forms notarized. E-notarization ok.
  5. Mail your application, documents and check or money order to:
