Cross-country ski pass

Anyone over the age of 16 on ski trails in state parks or forests or on state or grant-in-aid trails must have a Minnesota ski pass. You must sign your pass and carry it with you when skiing.

How to purchase

Apply in person at the Government Center Service Center location only. Make an appointment for a shorter wait time.

Cost

  • Daily pass: $6
  • Season pass: $20 (effective July 1 to June 30 of following year, i.e. 07/01/2010 - 06/30/2011)
  • 3-season pass: $55 (effective July 1 to June 30 of third year, i.e. 07/01/2010 - 06/30/2013)

Your ski pass fee helps support Minnesota's cross-country ski trail system.

Hunting and fishing licenses

Unless exempt, all individuals 16 and older must purchase a license to hunt and fish in Minnesota. Fishing licenses are valid from March 1 to April 30 the following year and hunting licenses are valid from March 1 to February 28 the following year.

Requirements

To purchase a license, you must provide your Social Security number, unless it's already on file with the Department of Natural Resources. See "Additional information" below.

For resident license, you must also provide one of the following

  • Proof of Minnesota residency (a MN driver's license or identification card)
  • A firearm safety certificate

For non-resident license, you must also provide one of the following from your state of residence

  • A driver's license
  • A state identification card
