Cope: mobile crisis response

If you're in crisis or know someone who is, we can help.

The Cope mobile crisis team can come to where you are. Cope responds to anyone in Hennepin County who needs an urgent response—individuals, families or communities.

Cope has bi-lingual and bi-cultural staff available for face-to-face, phone, and video visits and uses interpreters when needed. 

If the situation is life-threatening or you need immediate response, call 911.

Crisis services

Community response

Cope partners with communities to support healing after crises. Our no-cost services address communities’ immediate and long-term needs following a traumatic event. Support can be tailored to the situation.

Services available to communities in crisis

Crisis intervention and psychological first aid 

Immediate emotional and psychological support for the community affected by a crisis or traumatic event. 

Community debriefing sessions 

Facilitated sessions for community members to come together, share their experiences, support one another and connect to resources soon after a traumatic event. 

Healing circles

Healing circles increase connection, support belonging and build community by offering a supportive space for community members to listen, share and heal around a similar life experience. Topics are identified by the community and could include, but are not limited to, healing after loss or building resilience.

Resource and referral services 

Connecting individuals in the community with local resources such as mental health services, financial assistance programs and other community supports. 

Workshops and trainings 

Trauma informed workshops on coping strategies, grief and loss, stress management, and building resilience for all ages. 

Support for survivors 

Specialized support for individuals and communities affected by suicide, including education and support groups to reduce further risk. 

Outreach and engagement activities 

Proactive outreach to communities, providing information, support, and engagement to build trust and resilience. 

Follow up and caring contacts

Regular follow up with individuals and families who have received services, including periodic caring communications such as cards or messages to provide ongoing support and reassurance.

Frequently asked questions

Privacy and confidentiality

  • Cope does not share your information with anyone unless you sign a release of information.
  • We would only share information if someone were a risk to hurting themselves, hurting a child, or a vulnerable adult.

Cost

  • There is no cost to you or your family for Cope services.

Insurance

  • Services are provided regardless of insurance status.
  • You do not have to have insurance to receive Cope services.
  • If you have insurance, Cope will bill insurance companies for services, but we do not collect a co-pay from you.
  • If you receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) that is not a bill, and no payment is necessary.

Police involvement

  • Cope is separate from the police. If there is an emergency or high-risk situation, we will call 911.
  • For example, if someone might harm themselves, we might call 911 if an ambulance is the safest way to transport them to a hospital; however, we always consult with the family or individual before doing so.
