About the project area
Park and Portland avenues are a pair of one way roads that run from downtown through the entirety of south Minneapolis. The current infrastructure features aging roadway pavement, has buffered bike facilities with no physical separation, several ramps that are not up to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, wide roadway sections and long crossing distances at intersections.
Project goals
As we prepare for this project, we want to hear about how you use Park and Portland avenues and how you think they should look in the future. Our project goals include goals for design as well as engagement.
- Provide enhanced crossing opportunities for people walking, rolling and biking
- Create safe, secure and comfortable places for people biking, regardless of their age or ability
- Implement design elements to calm vehicle travel speeds
Public engagement
The project team is out in the community in 2024 asking for your feedback on existing conditions of the corridor. Future opportunities to engage with the project will be posted here as they are confirmed.
