France Avenue is closed to all traffic between 90th Street and the bridge over Nine Mile Creek in Bloomington. See detour map

• Plan an alternate route, or follow the posted detour using I-494, Normandale Boulevard, and Old Shakopee Road.
• If you’re traveling to Normandale College or to Bloomington Parks facilities at Marsh Lake Park, you can access them via France Avenue from the south.
• If you live or work along France Avenue, you will have access. The bike and pedestrian trail on the west side of France Avenue will remain open

Project background

We’re replacing the aging France Avenue bridge over Nine Mile Creek and adding improvements for better safety and drainage. This summer we will:

• Remove the current box culvert bridge and install a new one
• Add two overflow culverts—one on the north and on the south—to better manage high water events and minimize water over the road
• Pave the new bridge and approximately 200 feet on each direction
• Install new guardrails for improved safety
