One-Day DWI Program

The One-Day DWI Program is an alternative sanction for clients convicted of a first-time DWI. The program is for clients with DWI cases in Hennepin County.

This program provides a prompt and consistent response to prevent repeat offenses. The programming combines alcohol education, cognitive therapy, self-assessment, and victim-impact panel.

  • Limit distractions and stay focused.
Payments, registration and certificates

Follow the steps below to register and pay for the class.

Step 1: Pay fee

Class fee

The One-Day DWI class fee is $135. Once you pay the fee, you will receive a proof of payment code to give to your class provider.

Pay by credit or debit card

  • To make a payment, call the Fee Line at 612-348-5179, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Have your case number available before calling.

Pay by check or money order

Mail payments to:

Hennepin County Treasurer
P.O. Box 15171
Minneapolis, MN 55415

  • Make payable to "Hennepin County Treasurer."
  • Include your case number with your payment.

Step 2: Register for the class

You can register by phone. All classes take place on Saturdays. You may want to call all providers to find a class date that works best for you.

Completion Certificates

If you need a completion certificate:

  • Email DWIP@hennepin.us.
  • Include your name and case number.
  • If you need a hard copy, include your mailing address.
