Home repairs

We offer loans of up to $30,000 for home repairs and maintenance:

Zero percent interest loans
No monthly payments
Loans may be forgiven if you continue to live in and own the home, and don’t transfer the title

Eligible repairs

Plumbing
Electrical
Painting
Windows
Doors
Siding
Roof replacement
Accessibility improvements
Flooring and other repairs that address health, safety and maintenance concerns

Non-eligible repairs include landscaping, additions, hot tubs, pools, and demolition.

Funding to fix other home health hazards

Asthma triggers

If you have a child with asthma, you may be eligible for a home visit to identify possible health and safety hazards. You may also get free supplies to help reduce asthma triggers like dust mites, pests, and mold. For more information contact us at healthyhomes@hennepin.us or 612-543-4182.

Lead-based paint grant

If you live in a home built before 1978 and have a child under 6, you may qualify for a lead-based paint grant. Visit the lead-based paint page.

Accessibility ramps

We offer grants to cover installation of ramps or low-rise steps. Ramp or step construction can happen year round.

Eligibility requirements

You must live in and own the home
You must live in either Hennepin County or Ramsey County
Your household must have income no higher than $108,500
