If the electronic item still works, give it away or sell it.

Electronics are accepted for recycling by some manufacturers and retailers, including Best Buy, Recycle Technologies, Repowered, and Staples.

Check with your city recycling contact or waste hauler to see if they offer curbside electronics recycling options.

Drop-off facilities accept:

Electronics including audio and video equipment, cameras, cell phones, DVD players, computers, game systems, mobile devices, printers, telephones, TVs, radio and music players, rechargeable products.

Fee

$10 fee for each television (CRT, LCD, projector and plasma screen TVs), laptop and computer monitor (CRT and LCD). Cash, check, credit card and debit card (Visa, Discover, Mastercard) accepted.

No charge for audio equipment, computer peripherals, smart phones, tablets, telephones, television peripherals and video equipment.

Drop-off limit

Up to 5 of each type of electronic item per household per 12 month period.

Drop-off facilities do not accept:

No electronics used for business purposes, including home businesses and property managers.

Notice regarding personal data

Your identity and other personal information can be stolen from a computer, cell phone, or other data storage devices. Before recycling your electronics, protect yourself from identity theft by removing personal data and your files. For information on how to remove data, check with the manufacturer, a computer retailer or search the web.

Hennepin County is not responsible for any data that is left on electronic devices.

Rethink and reduce

Save energy by purchasing ENERGY STAR certified electronics.
