Efficient Buildings Collaborative
The Efficient Buildings Collaborative brought together the county, cities and building owners to do energy benchmarking. Energy benchmarking is the process of monitoring and reporting the energy use of a building. It allows comparison of buildings’ energy use to similar buildings or buildings’ past performance.
The State of Minnesota has created the Large Building Energy Benchmarking program. With this new program launch, the Efficient Buildings Collaborative will no longer continue.
Large Building Energy Benchmarking program
This program requires owners of large commercial and multifamily properties to submit whole-building energy usage annually to the State of Minnesota.
Building owners with questions about participation in the new state program, contact the help desk:

Building energy use data from 2020 – 2024
Past data submitted through the Efficient Buildings Collaborative is publicly disclosed through its map.
The map allows comparison of a building's energy efficiency to past performance and to similar buildings.

This data will be included in the statewide map when it is published. At that time, the Efficient Buildings Collaborative map will no longer be available.
