ADA sidewalk accessibility plan
Hennepin County is in the process of updating its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan and is looking for your feedback.
We are committed to improving accessibility on the county transportation system. The plan identifies where infrastructure meets current standards and where modifications are needed to reach full compliance.
The county map below shows the current inventory or pedestrian accessibility features, including curb ramps and pedestrian pushbuttons.
For all construction projects within Hennepin County’s right-of-way, the following Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance checklists must be completed and submitted to Hennepin County by the municipality, utility company or developer completing the work.
Checklists
The checklists cover all essential areas for federal compliance with the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG). They should be used throughout construction to guide your work and ensure all ADA-related work meets federal compliance. You can also document reasoning for any non-compliant work
The county is responsible for documenting and reporting that all ADA work is following federal procedures. Your cooperation in completing the checklists will ensure we can do so in a timely manner.
