Online resources

Hennepin County Library has many free online resources available to entrepreneurs and business owners, specifically in the business and employment section, including:

  • Business databases with information on companies, industry, competitive landscape, customer segmentation, demographics and more
  • Management tools and resources on how to start and run a business, including the:
  • Market and investment databases that provide information on stock performance for global and private companies and guidance and tutorials on stocks, funds and investment portfolio building
  • Online trainings and events for business development, job-seeking and careers

In-person resources

The library also offers in-person resources, including:

  • The Patent and Trademark Resource Center, located on the second floor of Minneapolis Central library, provides access to search tools for researching patents and trademarks, as well as a collection of reference materials and guides. It is the only patent and trademark resource center in Minnesota. Experienced library staff are available to support your research.
  • The Foundation Directory Online Professional, available at any HCL branch, offers information on grants for individuals, corporations, and non-profits.
