Drop-off facilities accept:

All types of batteries, including alkaline batteries, button batteries, and rechargeable batteries.

Fee

No charge

Materials preparation

Place batteries in a clear plastic bag OR place clear tape on both the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of batteries to prevent fires.

Hazardous materials precautions

Do NOT put them in other recycling drop-off containers. Bulging or damaged lithium ion batteries should be brought to a Hennepin County Drop-Off Facility. Place damaged lithium ion batteries individually in a clear plastic bag.

Drop-off facilities do not accept:

No batteries used for business purposes, including home businesses, property managers, and government agencies.
