As part of the Building Circularity MN program, this training introduces participants to the complex world of commercial construction through the lens of material reuse. Participants will:
- Gain foundational knowledge and practical experience in commercial construction building material reuse.
- Develop a material reuse business concept.
- Upon completion of the program, businesses located in Hennepin County have the option to receive up to 25 hours of no-cost support from Elevate Hennepin advisors and consultants to start, grow, or scale their business.

Program details
What
A six-month, hybrid, group-learning opportunity to learn about commercial building material reuse and develop a material reuse business idea.
- In-person sessions will include hands-on activities such as visits to project sites, tours, and group discussions.
- Virtual sessions will be lecture-based with opportunities for breakout discussions and one-on-one support from instructors.
When
Spring through fall 2026
Where
At least three in-person sessions located throughout Hennepin County and six virtual learning sessions via Zoom.
Cost
$45 for Minnesota residents and $300 for non-Minnesota residents (financial assistance available)
Eligibility
The program is open to all, with a focus on:
- Professionals and businesses in related fields (e.g., architecture, engineering, construction) interested in entering the commercial reuse market
- Existing reuse organizations (e.g., deconstruction contractors, reuse centers) looking to expand into commercial products
Participants must also:
- Be passionate about reducing building material waste and have an entrepreneurial mindset
- Be at least 25 years old
- Be willing to travel to Hennepin County for all in-person sessions (residency not required, but preference given to Hennepin County applicants)
