Bottineau Transitway health impact assessment
The Bottineau Transitway is a proposed high-frequency light rail transit (LRT) project that will extend approximately 13 miles from downtown Minneapolis through north Minneapolis and the suburbs of Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and Brooklyn Park.
Part of the project includes a health impact assessment (HIA). This is a new tool that considers the potential effect a proposed policy or project could have on the health of a population, and how those effects are distributed. The assessment is based on the principle that health starts long before illness in the environments where people live, work, and play.
