Brooklyn Park Transfer Station tours
Hennepin County offers facility tours at the Brooklyn Park Transfer Station (BPTS) waste drop-off facility. Refer to the following safety guidelines to determine what may be available for your group.
Event details
BPTS provides an opportunity for residents to properly manage household hazardous waste, recyclables, organics, and problem materials such as computers, televisions and appliances. This tour highlights the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling and preventing pollution.
Participants and chaperones
The facility welcomes visitors from Grade 2 through adults (no one under age 7), with group sizes from 5-28. (A presentation is available for large groups at their school or location.)
For visitors in grades 2-8, one adult is required per 5 youth; Grades 9-12, one adult per 10 youth. Chaperones shall strictly monitor the safety and behavior of students groups.
Dates and times
Tours are available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with start times 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours typically last 1 to 1.5 hours. No weekends, holidays. No Mondays or Tuesdays. Partial facility tours may be scheduled Wednesday evenings upon request.
