Emergency rental assistance due to COVID-19

If you live in one of Hennepin County’s suburban communities, you may be eligible for existing emergency rental assistance if you have been affected by COVID-19. See eligibility and application below.

All of Hennepin County – additional resources coming soon

Residents renting anywhere in Hennepin County may be eligible for part of an additional $15 million that will be released later in May. We’ll update this page when those funds become available.

Eligibility

You may be eligible if you:

  • Rent your housing in Hennepin County
  • Have household income below 50% of the area median income (about $46,550 for a household of three)
  • Lost income due to COVID-19
  • Can’t afford housing costs this month
  • Are not receiving Section 8 or other ongoing rental assistance

Priority will be given to households with incomes below 30% of the area median income, and those that are ineligible for Unemployment Insurance.

Northwest suburbs

If you live in Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Corcoran, Crystal, Dayton, Golden Valley, Greenfield, Maple Grove, New Hope, Osseo, Robbinsdale, or Rogers:

Northern suburbs

If you live in Independence, Long Lake, Loretto, Maple Plain, Medicine Lake, Medina, Minnetonka Beach, Plymouth, Orono, or Wayzata:

Western suburbs

If you live in Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Minnetrista, Mound, Shorewood, Spring Park, St. Bonifacious, St. Louis Park, Tonka Bay, or Woodland:

Southern suburbs

If you live in Bloomington, Edina or Richfield:
