Hennepin County, in partnership with the City of Golden Valley, replaced a bridge on Golden Valley Road over Bassett Creek.

The century-old bridge, which is located just west of Theodore Wirth Parkway, was reconstructed with design and functional improvements starting in 2018.

Construction updates

Bridge replacement is complete

The replacement of the Golden Valley Road Bridge (County Road 66) over Bassett Creek is now complete.

Construction activities to replace the century-old bridge began in June 2018 and completed in early fall 2018. 

The new bridge provides design and functional improvements, including:

  • New road surface offering a smoother ride
  • Updates to meet current safety requirements
  • Improved road drainage
  • Modern design, including new ornamental railings along both sides of the bridge
  • Adaptable design to accommodate possible future upgrades for people walking and biking

Construction open house

Hennepin County, in partnership with the City of Golden Valley and CenterPoint Energy, hosted a joint open house for Hennepin County's Golden Valley Road (County Road 66) Bridge over Bassett Creek reconstruction project and CenterPoint Energy's upcoming Belt Line project on March 15, 2018.

The open house focused on providing residents and businesses with information on the upcoming bridge reconstruction on Golden Valley Road, as well as CenterPoint Energy's activities in Golden Valley in 2018. More information is available on their project website.
