Reconstruction project completed

The City of Plymouth, in partnership with Hennepin County, reconstructed and expanded County Road 24 between Olive and Jewel lanes.

County Road 24 improvements include:

  • Added a lane in each direction and a continuous center left turn lane, which created a consistent roadway between County Road 101 and Highway 55

  • Added a trail along the south side for a continuous shared-use route along the corridor

  • Improved sight-lines and visibility

  • Replaced aging water main pipes

Project information

This project comprised of two different types of projects: reconstruction and repaving.

Reconstruction project

Improvements were needed to this small section of County Road 24 to improve traffic flow, safety and route continuity. Major improvements to the reconstructed area included:

  • Adding a traffic lane in each direction and a continuous center left turn lane to create consistent lane configurations between County Road 101 and Highway 55
  • Adding a trail along the south side for a continuous shared-use route along the corridor
  • Improving sight-lines and visibility
  • Replacing aging watermain pipes beneath the road

Construction began in late spring 2017 and was completed in November.

Paving project

In addition to the reconstruction project outlined above, the city of Plymouth repaved County Road 24 between Jewel Lane North on the west and Highway 55.
