County Road 92 safety improvements project is complete
Enjoy a safer traveling experience and reliable connection
The County Road 92 safety improvements project is now complete, and the roadway is open.
The improvements help with both safety and mobility. They include:
- A new multi-lane roundabout that reduces the two intersections down to one
- A realigned County Road 92 and bridge over Highway 12 and BNSF Railroad
- A realigned Lake Sarah Road intersection to eliminate sharp cornering
The reopening of County Road 92 completes a five-year project development process.
In 2017, county transportation engineers and agency partners began the important process of connecting with the community to identify safety needs and develop concepts.
After selecting a design in 2020, construction began in fall 2021. Crews spent more than a year reconstructing the area.
Work has also finished on MnDOT's Highway 12 corridor safety improvements aimed at reducing crashes and improving safety along Highway 12 in Orono, Maple Plain and Independence. Last year, MnDOT constructed a new roundabout at the County Road 90 intersection and new median barriers.
All this means that people traveling on County Road 92 and Highway 12 will have a safer experience and a reliable connection to schools, work, health care and any other important destinations.
