Vernon Avenue Bridge (County Road 58) Reconstruction in Edina

Update: The Constructability Review meetings have concluded. A summary of the meeting can be found in the additional reference information and documents.

Hennepin County is planning to reconstruct the Vernon Avenue (County Road 158) Bridge in Edina.  As part of this project, there are reconstruction and connectivity improvements along the roadway approaches to the bridge.  The project is currently scheduled to be let in summer of 2023 with an anticipated construction start date of fall 2023.

The multiyear project is currently being staged to maintain existing high-volume traffic movements and mitigate/minimize access impacts for all users in the project area.  In order to maintain connectivity throughout the project duration it is expected several traffic stages with multiple temporary support of excavation applications will be required due to the geometrics of the roadway connections, railroad corridor and the adjacent properties.

The primary reasons for the constructability reviews are to gain insight into options for construction access, schedule, staging and risk mitigation.
