Former Universal Plating site

This Minneapolis site is a state of Minnesota tax-forfeit property administered by Hennepin County. A chemical and mechanical plating and finishing facility operated here from approximately 1944 through 2009. The site addresses are 1900, 1912 and 1922 Monroe Street Northeast, as well as 661 – 19th Avenue Northeast.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency performed an assessment in 2012. In October 2018 we held a community meeting to provide information regarding the demolition process. Demolition and removal of buildings and structures took place in November 2018. Clean-up, demolition and removal of the buildings was funded by Hennepin County's Forfeited Tax Sale Fund and Environmental Response Fund programs.
