66th Street reconstruction

County Road 53 in Richfield

The county, in coordination with the City of Richfield, reconstructed County Road 53 (66th Street) to be safer, more livable and welcoming to all uses, while balancing potential impacts to residents and businesses along the corridor.

The project, which extended from Xerxes Avenue on the west end to 16th Avenue South on the east end, is now complete. Improvements include:

  • New sidewalks with accessibility features for all
  • A new multi-use trail for walking, biking and rolling
  • New landscaping
  • Roundabouts at Lyndale and Nicollet avenues
  • New turn lanes and traffic signals at key intersections
  • A safer and smoother road with raised concrete medians
  • Reconstructed utilities and stormwater facilities
