Hennepin County’s Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) project was established in 1988 to provide acute and preventative medical care, and chemical and mental health assessment and referral services to homeless individuals. In 2008, the project served 5,054 individuals during 14,894 visits.
Over the next two years, Health Care for the Homeless expects to see more than 150 new patients. Grant funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will allow the project to add 1.1 full-time staff members to meet the increased demand for services and continue to provide quality health care for homeless individuals.
