Administrative, Professional & Technical Projects

Volunteer with the Human Services Department
The Volunteer and Community Partnership Program (VCPP) coordinates volunteer activities for Hennepin County’s human services programs. Find volunteer opportunities that need to be filled urgently or immediately in our targeted recruitment section.

Adults & Special Needs

Volunteer at the Adult Corrections Facility
A dedicated group of volunteers work with the men and women at the Adult Corrections Facility in a number of ways. Services they provide include reading and math tutoring, facilitating chemical dependency groups, spiritual guidance, and ongoing support in the community.
Volunteer in Adult Probation
The Adult Probation Division of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation promotes public safety by expanding partnerships in the community, extending program services, and fostering teamwork and productivity among staff and volunteers.
Volunteer With Family Court Services
Family Court Services staff help parents reach amicable and peaceful solutions in child custody and parenting time (visitation) disputes.
Volunteer with Sentencing to Service
The Sentencing to Service Program provides the courts with an alternative sanction for low-risk offenders who perform community service in lieu of going to jail or paying a fine.

Environment & Gardening

Adopt-A-Highway Program
This program involves groups in adoption of a segment of county highway pledging to keep them free of litter.
Master Gardener
Horticulture information and education for county residents through classes, staffing information tables, assisting organizations and answering questions on the hotline.
Master Naturalist Volunteering Opportunity
Educates adults about Minnesota's natural resources, empowers them to teach others, and provides opportunities to participate in conservation projects. 
Master Recyclers/Composters
Master Recyclers/Composters take a two month training course on the three Rs - waste reduction, reuse and recycling - then volunteer to implement programs and educate others in the community.
Stream Health Volunteer Monitoring Program
Adult volunteer monitoring program that assesses the biological communities in streams in Hennepin County.
Volunteer with Sentencing to Service
The Sentencing to Service Program provides the courts with an alternative sanction for low-risk offenders who perform community service in lieu of going to jail or paying a fine.
Wetland Health Volunteer Monitoring Program
Adult volunteer monitoring program that assesses the biological communities in wetlands throughout the county.
