Hennepin County provides convenient locations where residents can drop off batteries to assure that batteries are recycled or disposed of properly. Battery collection sites include city and county buildings, libraries, schools, retail stores, senior centers, and county drop-off facilities.

Important disposal information regarding rechargeable, lithium and button batteries  

A depleted battery may still contain a residual charge.  Place each battery into an individual plastic bag or place non-conductive tape over the battery terminals to prevent short-circuiting during storage and transport.
