Co-pays

A co-pay is the portion of child care costs that parents must pay. The co-pay is based on family size and annual income. It is paid directly to the child care provider. Benefits may end if this payment is not made.

Additional costs

There can be additional costs. Hennepin County pays child care providers only up to maximum rates. If providers charge more than maximum rates, the family must pay the difference. Providers can also charge for:

  • late fees
  • optional activity fees
  • transportation fees
  • hours not authorized for payment by Hennepin County
