Transit-friendly

Target Field is considered the most transit-friendly ballpark in America. Fans can get there by bus, bike, train, car or by walking from downtown. No matter what your desired experience is, there is transportation to match your need.

Hennepin County's role

The sales tax authorized by the Board of Commissioners in 2006 made the construction of Target Field possible by funding $350 million in bonds. The revenue also funds the Hennepin Youth Sports Program, which provides approximately $2 million annually in capital grants for youth sports facilities. An additional $2 million annually funds Ballpark Sundays — expanded operating hours at 13 Hennepin County Libraries — as well as Ballpark Mondays at Hennepin County Library – Central.

Target Field also uses steam produced by the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center to power the water heaters that help provide heat for the lower levels of the ballpark, warm fluid for coils under the grass field, and hot water for restaurants, showers and bathrooms.

The construction of Target Field was overseen by the Minnesota Ballpark Authority.
