The U.S. Passport Book is for use at all United States land, sea and air ports-of-entry.

The U.S. Passport Card is for use at United States land and sea ports-of-entry when arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. It otherwise carries the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book. 

The U.S. Passport Card may NOT be used for air travel.

You are allowed both a Passport Book and a Passport Card.
