When requesting a certified or uncertified copy, or to view/verify information of a birth, death, or marriage record, Specific Information must be supplied.
Specific Information is defined as the correct date of the event and the correct name of the registrant. (Minn. Stat. § 144.226)
Lacking specific information incurs a “search time” fee at a rate of $20 per hour (Minimum $10) in addition to the cost of the record requested.

NOTICE: Effective July 1, 2010 the cost of a certified copy of a birth certificate will be $26.00 for the first copy and $19.00 for each additional copy of the same record purchased at the same time. Orders received on or after July 1, 2010 with incorrect fees must be returned for proper payment. Thank you.

We request that you include a self addressed stamped #10 envelope. Please include an additional $1.50 handling fee if you choose not to include the self addressed, stamped envelope. Thank you.
Mail orders are generally processed within 7-10 days of receipt. If you choose to expedite, add a $20.00 expedite fee per record to your payment and write "EXPEDITE" on the outside of your mailing envelope. Please note that if you are making changes to the birth record with a parent notice (within 45 days of birth) we are required to hold your application for two business days.
