The 3rd District is both urban and suburban and includes a vibrant mix of residential and commercial neighborhoods. In addition to the entirety of St. Louis Park, the 3rd District includes the Minneapolis neighborhoods of Armatage, CARAG, Cedar Isles Dean, East Calhoun, East Harriet, East Isles, Fulton, the Diamond Lake portion of Hale Paige Diamond Lake, Kenny, Kenwood, Kingfield, Linden Hills, Loring Park, Lowry Hill, Lowry Hill East, Lyndale, Lynnhurst, Stevens Square, Tangletown, West Calhoun, Whittier, and Windom.
The district is connected through a system of parks, trails and water bodies with ample opportunities for recreation, family and community gatherings. District 3 is also home to several key arts institutions, including the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Intermedia Arts.
