Hennepin County proposes to replace Bridge No. 90444; County State Aid Highway 22 (Lyndale Avenue South) over the Minnehaha Creek in Minneapolis. The structure, located between east- and west-bound Minnehaha Parkway, no longer meets the demands of the traveling public. Portions of the sidewalk have been closed due to accelerated deterioration of steel beams supporting it. The trail below was recently closed due to the potential for falling debris. (see "Existing Bridge" below) The current sufficiency rating for the bridge is 29.3 out of a possible 100 and is classified as “structurally deficient.”
Hennepin County has retained the services of HNTB to coordinate design, public involvement and governmental approvals on this project, including development of a preliminary layout and final plans.
A Project Advisory Committee (PAC), composed of members from adjacent and nearby neighborhoods, has been assembled to facilitate public awareness and involvement. Meetings have been on-going since April 2009.
This Project has been delayed.
See CSAH 22 Project Postponement Letter for more information.
