Metro Transit Go-To Cards

A Go-To Card is a durable plastic fare card that works with just one touch to a reader and can be used over and over again. The card is accepted on all regional, regular-route buses and trains, and can be started or stopped at any time. You are responsible for starting and stopping your Go-To Card election.

Eligibility

All employees are eligible to participate in the Go-To Card discount program. However, the program is available only to employees (not dependents) and is to be used only for travel to and from work.

  • You are allowed to participate in only one program, either Go-To Card or MetroPass, at a time.
  • All funds are non-refundable.

Savings

Hennepin County covers 40% of the cost of the program. Your share of the cost is paid through pre-tax payroll deduction.

$11 stored value

  • $11 value — on bus or light rail
  • Employee cost (pre-tax): $6 per pay period
  • County cost: $4 per pay period
  • Value added every paycheck

$22 stored value

  • $22 value — on bus or light rail
  • Employee cost (pre-tax): $12 per pay period
  • County cost: $8 per pay period
  • Value added every paycheck

$33 stored value

  • $33 value — on bus or light rail
  • Employee cost (pre-tax): $18 per pay period
  • County cost: $12 per pay period
  • Value added every paycheck

Metro Mobility

  • Must be approved by Metro Transit- contact Metro Transit for eligibility requirements
  • Unlimited rides for 31 days from the date you begin to use value — on bus or light rail
  • Employee cost (pre-tax): $18.90 per month
  • County cost: $12.60 per month
  • Valued added on the second paycheck of the month

  1. Buy a Go-To Card from Metro Transit . You can get a Go-To Card from:
    • Metro Transit store located at 719 Marquette Ave, Minneapolis
    • Commuter Connection store located at 505 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis
    • Online at www.metrotransit.org  or call Metro Transit at 612-373-3333
  2. Start payroll deduction in APEX
    • Log into APEX and select “My Pay and Benefits”
    • Under Payroll, select “Bus Card Deduction”
    • Select Go-To Card type and effective date
    • Enter your 16-Digit Go-To Card number and save — double check the number to ensure value will be loaded to the correct Go-To Card

You are responsible for ensuring your Go-To Card number is correct in APEX. Failure to update your Go-To Card number will result in value being loaded to an incorrect card. Value loaded to an incorrect Go-To Card number will not be refunded.

Cancel

  • Log into APEX and select “My Pay and Benefits”
  • Under Payroll, select “Bus Card Deduction”
  • Select “Cancel Deduction”

Lost or stolen Go-To Card

If your Go-To Card is lost, stolen or replaced report your card to Metro Transit, obtain a new Go-To Card and update your 16-digit Go-To Card number immediately.

To update your Go-To Card number:

  • Update your 16-digit Go-To Card number immediately
    • Log into APEX and select “My Pay and Benefits”
    • Under Payroll, select “Bus Card Deduction”
    • Select “Update Bus Card #”
    • Enter your 16-Digit Go-To Card number and save — double check the number to ensure value will be loaded to the correct Go-To Card number

You are responsible for ensuring your Go-To Card number is correct in APEX. Failure to update your Go-To Card number will result in value being loaded to an incorrect card. Value loaded to an incorrect Go-To Card number will not be refunded.
