Minnesota Benefits Association

The Minnesota Benefits Association offers a variety of benefits including scholarships, an auto lease and purchase program, annuities, legal services, life insurance, and long term care insurance.

Enrollment

  • Visit Minnesota Benefits Association or call 651-735-9874.
  • The association will send the county your information and a payroll deduction will be set up.

Travel emergency assistance

Offered through Standard Life Insurance, UnitedHealthcare Global provides 24/7 travel assistance services (i.e. includes referral, assistance, transportation and evacuation services) for emergencies during travel more than 100 miles from home. This assistance is available to all benefit-earning employees and their dependents (to age 26).

How to access services

  1. Print and sign the identification card in the brochure (PDF).
  2. Keep card with you during travel. If you need assistance, call the number on the card.

College savings plan

About the college savings plan

The county offers a simple way you can save for your children's higher education. Payroll-deducted deposits grow tax-free.

Contributions stop when you no longer receive a paycheck but you can continue to make deposits by contacting the Minnesota College Savings Plan.

Enroll and set up payroll deduction

  1. Enroll directly with Minnesota College Savings Plan. Click on the "account forms" tab and select the appropriate form.
  2. Send your completed form to: MN College Savings Plan (address on form) AND scan and email a copy of the same form to hr.benefits@hennepin.us

Once you've completed step 2, benefits staff will enter your deduction into APEX. If you do not follow step 2 exactly, the benefits division cannot process your election.

Change or stop deduction

  1. Go to Minnesota College Savings Plan and click on the account forms tab
  2. Complete the "Set up automatic payroll deduction form"
  3. Send your completed form to: MN College Savings Plan (address on form) AND scan and email a copy of the same form to hr.benefits@hennepin.us

Once you've completed step 3, benefits staff will enter your deduction into APEX. If you do not follow step 3 exactly, the benefits division cannot process your election.
